This is a reader profile i made about my target audience, the information used is from my questionnaire and i have asked people in my target audience's age bracket face to face. I looked at other magazines reader profiles in order to find out about the layouts and information on them. This information will help me plan the content of my magazine and who i need the magazine to appeal to.

This is the results for a questionair that i gave out to find out more about my target audiance.
Ages 16-26 filled it out as this is the age of my target audiance.
Ages 16-26 filled it out as this is the age of my target audiance.
I can see form the results of my questionnaire some essential information, for example on average the highest price my target audience would pay for a music magazine is £3 so I will decide the price of my magazine biased on this information. Over half of my target audience was interested in musical opportunities so I will have this as a feature in my magazine. Some of my readers would read articles in detail but not all so I will try not to put articles with too much information in them and sum up facts for an easy read. The variety of music that my target audience likes is quite varied so I’m not going to make the music content specific and feature a wide variety in order to appeal to my whole target audience.
On the cover of my school magazine I have used a serif font and informal wording, this give the magazine a laid back feel, by using an informal font and typography I wish to create a relaxed atmosphere between the readership and the magazine. I have used little text on the magazine and hoped to entice the reader using photography and brand identity. I used the image as it shows a medium close up and the colours tied in really well with my brand identity, however I feel that the image used could have been more fun and could follow the informal feel that I created with the text. Given the opportunity I would add more text to the cover of my magazine with more lures to encourage more interest. I managed to create a strong brand identity by using the same strip border and school logo on each page, I think that this is effective and will be recognisable and encourage repeat buyers.
I have not edited the photo at all, I think that I should have enhanced some of the colours to make the page feel more lively.
The images on my content page could have been bordered to make the page feel more alive, if I had the chance I would add a simple border making sure not to over crowd the page. The images on my content page are fun and show trips and events showing the enjoyable side of school that the students will want to be involved in.

Preliminary task front page
For my preliminary task I am designing a school magazine aimed at sixth formers at an all girl’s school. I will achieve appealing to my target audience by featuring articles that will draw in interest, for example instead of featuring all academic articles I will include things to do locally, student discounts and articles about interests such as fashion shows. I will use house colours that advertises the school to show the connection to the magazine, however the house colours also appeal to the target audience as they are purple and white which are feminine colours. I will create brand identity by carrying the house colours and font styles threw the magazine.
